Polyethylene aquarium mat available in various sizes. Even a small aquarium, when set up and flooded, can achieve considerable weight. The entire weight of the tank rests on its bottom. Theoretically, in an aquarium lying on a perfectly flat surface, the weight is distributed evenly on the entire bottom pane. In practice, however, the surfaces (e.g. cabinet tops) on which you usually place the aquarium are rarely perfectly flat. Even small irregularities, such as the proverbial grain of sand, create local stresses that may lead to aquarium bottom cracks. The aquarium mat compensates for irregularities of the substrate, preventing cracks and fissures. The dark colour masks the mat without spoiling the aesthetics of the tank.  The mat works well not only as an aquarium base, but also as a base for rock constructions placed in it. By insulating the stone from the glass, it prevents its damage. The product is therefore especially recommended for Malawi and Tanganyika biotope aquariums, i.e. with a lot of heavy stones.
