Description

3w1 Metal Halide Bulb 70W

The metal halide bulb is the best lighting solution for terrariums, designed to closely replicate the natural spectrum of sunlight. It is a comprehensive 3w1 lighting source that simultaneously emits intense visible light, heat (infrared radiation), and essential UVA and UVB radiation.

High-energy UVB radiation plays a crucial role in terrarium breeding, enabling the synthesis of vitamin D3, which is essential for proper calcium metabolism. This ensures healthy development of the skeletal system, stimulates natural activity, improves appetite, and supports digestive processes.

Using a single metal halide bulb allows for the replacement of a traditional configuration consisting of a separate heating lamp and UVB fluorescent lamp, thus guaranteeing optimal and concentrated doses of all necessary radiation components. This solution is valued by professional breeders for its high efficiency and very long bulb life.

Recommended use for diurnal species:

  • Agamidae (Agamidae): e.g. bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps), water dragon (Physignathus cocincinus), spiny-tailed lizard (Uromastyx spp.).
  • Iguanidae (Iguanidae): e.g. green iguana (Iguana iguana), Fiji iguana (Brachylophus fasciatus), chuckwalla (Sauromalus spp.).
  • Testudinidae (Testudinidae): e.g. steppe tortoise (Testudo horsfieldii), Greek tortoise (Testudo hermanni), star tortoise (Geochelone elegans).
  • Varanidae (Varanidae): e.g. savannah monitor (Varanus exanthematicus), spiny-tailed monitor (Varanus acanthurus), emerald monitor (Varanus prasinus).
  • Chamaeleonidae (Chamaeleonidae): e.g. panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis), Yemen chameleon (Chamaeleo calyptratus), Jackson's chameleon (Trioceros jacksonii).

Key product features:

  • Full 3w1 spectrum: Provides daylight, heat, and UVA and UVB radiation.
  • Health support: Essential for D3 synthesis, supports condition, appetite, and activity.
  • Energy efficiency: Energy savings compared to MVL bulbs.
  • Performance: Replaces a system of multiple lamps (heating and UVB).
  • Long lifespan: Exceptionally durable compared to standard UVB fluorescent lamps (12 months).
  • Versatility: For all diurnal reptiles.

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Ballast requirements

  • Necessity of use: Metal halide bulbs (HID type) require connection to an external ballast for proper operation. This component is not included in the set and must be purchased separately.
  • Operation principle: Metal halides, like fluorescent lamps, generate a very high voltage, reaching up to 5000 V during ignition. However, immediately after ignition, this voltage must be significantly reduced. The ballast is the installation component responsible for regulating the current flow in the circuit.
  • Power selection: The ballast power must be precisely matched to the bulb power. For a 70W metal halide, a 70W ballast must be used. A variable ballast is available on the market variable ballast, which can power bulbs of three different powers 35W/50W/70W, with power regulated via a switch.
  • Availability: Dedicated ballasts are available in specialized terrarium shops, electrical wholesalers, and online sales.
